Sky add call bundles to half price deals

sky broadband browser

SKY have launched a fresh round of half price offers on their fibre broadband and - for the first time ever - on their Sky Talk packages.

Until June 9th, new Sky TV or Sky Broadband customers can get either Talk Evenings and Weekends Extra or Talk Anytime Extra at half price for six months, with a minimum 12 month contract.

And from today until May 26th, Sky Fibre Unlimited is also available at half price - that's £10 per month instead of £20 - for 12 months.

In each case customers will need to pay line rental of £17.40 a month, and in the case of those adding half price calls to their Sky TV package, at least £20 for the TV part of the bundle.

Sky Talk at half price

So what do customers get if they sign up for one of Sky Talk's half price deals?

We've included Sky's other Talk plans in the table below to show how each differs, and how much each plan costs in comparison.

Plan You get Line Rental Additional Cost
sky Pay As You Talk Line rental only £17.40 £0
sky Talk Evenings & Weekends Extra Unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines, UK mobiles and 0845 and 0870 numbers £17.40 £2
for 6 mths, then £4
sky Talk Anytime Extra Unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines, UK mobiles and 0845 and 0870 numbers £17.40 £4
for 6 mths, then £8
sky Talk International Extra Unlimited anytime calls to UK landlines, UK mobiles and 0845 and 0870 numbers
PLUS Unlimited geographic landline calls to 50 international countries
£17.40 £12

Most out of allowance calls cost 11.5p per minute - which means a Pay As You Talk customer who makes just 35 minutes of calls a month will spend as much as someone who has the full price evening and weekend bundle.

However, those weighing up whether or not to add a calls bundle should be aware that they're sold on a contract basis - so we're stuck with our choice (or an upgrade) for the duration of the landline contract.

Customers interested in adding Sky Talk to Sky TV - not, please note, Sky Q - have three basic TV bundles to choose from, plus various add ons:

* Sky TV prices will change on 1st June. In accordance with standard terms, your Sky TV package may rise by up to 10% during the minimum contract term.

It's also worth pointing out that for those who aren't bothered about Sky TV but are interested in Sky broadband (reviewed here), all three of their main broadband deals are now available on special terms, and that they can be combined with the Sky Talk deal.

Sky Unlimited broadband, which offers connections of up to 17Mb, and the capped version of their up to 38Mb fibre, are both being offered free of charge for 12 months, with £17.40 line rental:

Package Broadband Contract term Upfront cost Monthly cost
sky Broadband Unlimited Up to 17Mb
Unlimited
12 months £9.95 £27.40
sky Fibre Up to 38Mb
25GB usage
12 months £48.95 £27.40

Note also that those signing up to Sky's unlimited standard broadband will also get a £100 M&S e-voucher.

For those who'd like unlimited usage but need or want something faster than standard broadband, Sky's up to 38Mb Unlimited Fibre is now available to new customers for £10 a month (usually £20) for 12 months - the whole of the initial contract term - plus a £100 M&S e-voucher:

The crucial thing to bear in mind with all of Sky's broadband offers, however, is that it's just the broadband itself that's free - so customers will still need to pay £17.40 line rental.
