Sky Sports upgrade offered at half price
SKY are offering their existing customers the chance to add Sky Sports to their existing deal for half price, for 12 months.
That brings down the additional cost of being able to watch more than 120 Barclays Premier League matches, the Ryder Cup, next season's F1 coverage live and in full, and the England and Ireland Rugby autumn internationals to £13.75 a month.
Armchair enthusiasts will need to move fairly quickly, however, as the offer is only available until midnight on Monday October 3rd.
The offer coincides with Sky's coverage of the Ryder Cup, which tees off on Friday and is being shown live on both Sky Sports 1 and a renamed Sky Sports 4 for all three days of the competition.
Sky Sports Ryder Cup took over from Sky Sports 4 on Monday this week, and in the run up to tee off on Friday it's been showing wall to wall golf specials and documentaries, and archive footage and highlights from past Ryder Cup tournaments.
The pop-up will be broadcasting for 10 days - so those who miss out on the competition itself will still be able to watch replays, analysis, and, er, the Ryder Cup Breakfast Show, until next Wednesday.
Later in the year there'll be yet more specialist coverage of the British Masters, and the finale of the European Tour's Race to Dubai.

Other sporting highlights
For those of us who agree with the joke that golf is a good walk ruined, we've already mentioned some of the other highlights coming up on Sky Sports this year.
As well as the England, Ireland, and Barbarians Rugby autumn tests, there'll be exclusive coverage of the England cricket team's tour of the subcontinent, the ATP World Finals, and Fifa World Cup qualifiers.
The past two years, Sky have had a growing audience for their coverage of the William Hill World Darts Championship - prompting them to run another pop-up channel, Sky Sports Darts, in place of Sky Sports F1 last Christmas.
We may see similar happening again this year - but before then, the World Grand Prix will be showing on Sky Sports 3 from Sunday evening until October 12th.

Bear in mind that the half price upgrade offer only applies to Sky Sports in SD.
Those with the Box Sets Bundle can choose to add the HD pack as well, for another £6 per month, to get all seven channels in higher definition.
Regardless of whether they add the HD Pack, however, a small but significant group of customers will also be able to watch some Sky Sports content in ultra HD, for no extra cost.
These are the people who have the 2TB version of the new Sky Q set top boxes, and a Sky Q Multiscreen subscription (a combination known as Sky Q Silver at launch).
Everyone who has this combination will find they can access at least some content in ultra HD, in the form of on demand entertainment and documentaries.
Those with Sky Sports as well can also watch and record live content in 4K HD - all the F1 coverage Sky show next season will be in ultra HD, as will almost all of the 126 Barclays Premier League fixtures to which they have exclusive live rights.
There's more on this feature, and plenty of other details about Sky Q, in our dedicated guide.
